    The planet’s most pressing environmental problems – global warming, energy shortages, over fishing, pollution – may seem just too big to be solved with today’s technology. But don’t despair: A lot of bright minds are working on futuristic projects that promise to make the world greener while making entrepreneurs some green. It’s save-the-world stuff like toxic-waste-eating trees, smart electricity grids, oceangoing robots, and floating environmental sensors. Then there’s the alternative-energy home fueling station that could jump-start the long-awaited hydrogen economy. This technology may seem far out – but it will probably be here a lot sooner than you think.

    Aquaponics – A modern solution to an ancient problem

    Throughout the world there are places that have soil that is no longer able to sustain growth of any kind. Africa in particular has many areas where the soil has been farmed-out and is no longer capable of producing any crops. Whether due to substandard farming methods, or improper drainage, or a general lack of water and soil minerals, the end result is usually the same. Starvation. There are already far too many people suffering from starvation in our world. Many relief organizations spend millions of dollars every year importing food supplies into these areas. Most of the time the food is substandard and of minimal nutritional value. It keeps the people alive, but just barely. This is just a band-aid on an open wound.

Stars such as Annie Lennox, Bono of U2, Michael Jackson, Sheryl Crow and many more have all participated in using their music to reach out to their fans to promote awareness, action and advocacy for causes that are worthwhile.
