• Free Music Friday With Living Things And A Chad Valley Remix

Hi everyone and welcome to Project Rhythm Seed’s Free Music Friday. Today we have two new tracks from two of our favorite artists. The first is from Living Things called “Fake It Baby, Fake It (La Dame Nature)”.  Project Rhythm Seed’s, Myles Crawley, interviewed Lillian Berlin, the lead singer of Living Things, earlier this year when they met up for coffee in Los Angeles. You can view that interview here. We also gave away their Malocchio mix tape to all of you. Check that out here.

Our second track is a remix of Noah and The Whale’s “Give It All Back” by Chad Valley. Like everything else that they touch, Chad Valley has done an amazing job with this remix. Their new LP, Equatorial Ultravox, is one of the strongest albums we’ve listened to this year. It is heart stopping good! Chad Valley has been highlighted on a prior Free Music Friday. Check that out here. As a special extra, if you like Chad Valley on their facebook page, you can download their 4 song R&B Edits EP for free. Click here. We would be curious to know if any of you download and listen to both of today’s songs. They are very much different from each other. While the Living Things track is pseudo punk, the Chad Valley remix is electronic pop. Let us know what you think, which one you like better. Until then, have a great weekend and we’ll see you again next week for more music news, reviews and interviews. And don’t forget to visit our Rhythm Seed Store for those musical Christmas presents.

    Living Things
Living Things are pleased to unveil their new single, “Fake It Baby, Fake It (La Dame Nature),” from their upcoming EP to be released in early 2012. Written while listening to the likes of Buddy Holly and Elvis Costello, the track is a raucous, desperate plea to an ex-girlfriend to come back to his “helpless heart”; that “the sex with [the other guy] is no good.” If the girl in question has any sense, she’ll come back running.

Living Things are a three-piece band from St. Louis, MO whose sound has been described as being “ferocious political punk” to “noirish psychedlia”. Made up of three brothers, Lillian, Yves and Joshua “ Bosh” Berlin, the band has been playing together since grade school. “We have a concrete basement at the bottom of our parents’ house; we’ve been rehearsing in it since we were kids and recorded our first album there with Steve Albini “ says lead-singer Lillian Berlin. “It was totally our own world, where, at one point, everybody fucked for the first time, tried drugs, wrote our first songs. It was the meeting point for us and our friends.”

As young kids, the Berlin brothers piled into their father’s Chevy wagon and traveled up and down the Midwest performing politically-driven punk songs inspired by their mother’s long rants about feminism, the abuse of authority, government manipulation and Jerry Springer culture. And now here is the Living Things track, “Fake It Baby, Fake It (La Dame Nature)”:

    Chad Valley
Chad Valley is a long-established brand of toys in the UK. It is also the solo project of Oxford, England’s, Hugo Manuel. Just recently, experimental pop record label Cascine released Equatorial Ultravox, the follow up to Hugo’s acclaimed self-titled (Chad Valley) debut, which Pitchfork praised as “another fresh take on Balearic bliss.” His music is wonderfully infectious and chocked full of rich melodies and dance rhythms, and drawing heavily at times from 80’s synth influences.

Hugo also heads the calypso-pop quintet, Jonquil, and is the founding member of the Blessing Force Collective. After releasing his solo debut EP as Chad Valley last winter, he became one of the most blogged-about artists in Europe and the US and received significant radio attention with plays across the BBC.

Hugo has already performed for audiences in Dublin, Amsterdam, Paris, and Budapest, supporting acts including Amiina, Twin Shadow and Foals. And now here is Chad Valley’s remix of Noah and The Whale’s “Give It All Back”:
