Free Music Friday With The Shutes
Hi everyone and welcome to another weekly edition of Project Rhythm Seed’s Free Music Friday. As usual, we have been scouring the globe looking for the newest sounds available. This week’s offering comes to us from London via our friends at Toast Press, who are one of the top music PR companies in the UK.
The band is called The Shutes and the track of the day is “She Said” off of their new 5 song EP titled Echo Of Love. Although we have only one track of the EP available for you today, you can stream the entire album on Soundcloud. We hope you enjoy the track and we look forward to bringing you more music news, reviews and interviews next week right here on Project Rhythm Seed.
Released in the UK on April 2nd by Cross Keys Records, The Shutes new Echo of Love EP showcases a band that sound like they are quickly accelerating towards the pinnacle of their powers with songs that demonstrate confidence and maturity. Based in London, England, The Shutes are only now being introduced to US audiences.
Singer/songwriter Michael Champion has delivered his strongest set of songs to date – recalling everyone from Ariel Pink to the Strokes – and, with his brother David joining the band on guitar, The Shutes have developed a richer sound, both in the studio and on the road. Their lyrics are thoughtful and intelligent. Their music is reminiscent of early Byrds or Jefferson Airplane and their production style is smothered in reverb. But it makes sense and fits with the overall styling of the EP.
The five-track EP was recorded with producer Julian Simmons (Midlake, Guillemots, Ed Sheeran) at East London’s Din Studios towards the end of 2011 and was mixed by Rich Woodcraft (Radiohead, Neil Young, The Arctic Monkeys). The track we have for you today is titled “She Said” and is a testament to the strength of The Shutes’ songwriting.
