• Hey Champ Debut Mind Melting Video For “Neverest”

To look at them floating suspended in the air before a wide open sea in their press photos, the mind doesn’t scream disco beats and swank guitar riffs, yet Chicago trio Hey Champ knows how to make your butt shake and your body groove like there was no tomorrow.

Hey Champ was discovered during the summer of 2008 by Lupe Fiasco when he stumbled upon a video for the band’s ‘Cold Dust Girl.’ Shortly after, Hey Champ embarked on a nationwide tour opening for Lupe. By early 2009, ‘Cold Dust Girl’ had been spun in clubs on every continent (conceding Antarctica) and the band had gained stature in the rock and dance communities by sharing the stage with international sensations like Justice, Sebastian Tellier, The Sounds, Midnight Juggernauts, Kid Sister, Datarock, and The Bloody Beetroots just to name a few.

In a review of day 1 at Lollapalooza 2009, SPIN Magazine had this to say about Hey Champ: “The trio delivered one of the day’s most joyously energetic performances, a funky blend of burbling synth lines, ringing guitar riffs, disco drum beats, and anthemic melodies sung in gleeful falsetto.”
With a schedule including some of the biggest festivals and tours of the year, international acclaim for their hit “Cold Dust Girl,” and a soon to be released debut album on Townie Records, Hey Champ is poised to become, well, something rather large!

Hey Champ are proud to present the video for “Neverest” a single off their forthcoming full-length debut Star. The provocative Matthew Lessner (Dirty Projectors, The Raveonettes, Foreign Born, Local Natives) directed cut should have viewers dropping their jaws while finding themselves developing a Flipper fetish faster than lightning.
