• James Blake Premieres New Video Of Joni’s ‘A Case Of You’

James Blake is pleased to release the video that accompanies his beautiful rendition of Joni Mitchell‘s ‘A Case of You’. Shot in London last week, it was directed by film-maker Seb Edwards and features his first choice actress for the role, Rebecca Hall (The Prestige / Vicky, Cristina Barcelona / Frost/Nixon). It turns out she’s both a fan of Joni Mitchell and particularly James’s version, so she jumped at the chance to be involved.

The track originally formed part of James’s first Maida Vale session for Radio 1 and was more recently added to his Enough Thunder EP, as well the deluxe edition of his debut album, James Blake, all of which are available now.

Project Rhythm Seed has covered James on a few prior occasions, most notably when he appeared at the Troubadour in Los Angeles in May of 2011. You can read that article here. At the end of that show James closed with his version of Joni’s “A Case Of You” and made reference to the fact that he had it on good authority that Joni herself would shortly be listening to his version of her song. We’ve always wondered what she thought of it. Recently, Project Rhythm Seed’s Myles Crawley wrote a “Sankofa Music Series” piece about Joni Mitchell that has since been added to her personal website. You can view it in its current location on Joni’s site here.
