Rhythm Seed Artist Spotlight On Electric Guest
Los Angeles, California’s own Asa Taccone and Matthew Compton, collectively known as Electric Guest, are pleased to announce the release of “This Head I Hold” on March 26th through Because Music. Produced by Danger Mouse, the track is taken from their debut album Mondo which is set to drop on April 23rd.
With meditative lyrics, catchy choruses, and dance inspiring rhythms the band brings a feel-good experience direct to the eardrums. The duos music is a collection of people and memories Asa (singer/songwriter) has picked up along the way of his long, circuitous journey towards completion of the band’s debut LP. This nomadic quality is felt in “This Head I Hold”, taking surprising, symphonic twists and turns that are never jarring as Asa’s rich, R&B-style vocals guide you smoothly, dreamily through its unique chord and movement changes.
Having played only a handful of shows in their headquarters of Los Angeles, Electric Guest has already generated sufficient word of mouth and buzz in recent months to propel them to #13 on KCRW’s Top 50.
Asa’s older brother happens to be Jorma Taccone, of Lonely Island/”Saturday Night Live” fame. The elder Taccone handled directorial duties for the band’s dead-serious “American Daydream” video, which features a bruised-and-bloody Asa tackling Hollywood hipsters at too-perfect parties, too-fab pool gatherings, and too-scripted bars. The band has already lined up a handful of national appearances, including a slot at Washington’s Sasquatch! Festival and a run of shows at the buzz-making SXSW.
