Terraplane Sun Brings New Summer Sounds
As the summer stretches into August and you find you’re still in need of this season’s anthem, look no further than Terraplane Sun‘s “Get Me Golden.” Infectious keys and hand-claps, unique-while-familiar vocals, and upbeat percussion are the recipe for a sunny afternoon get-together…and maybe even a little something more. This is the first single off of Terraplane Sun’s new EP, Friends, produced by veteran Dave Trumfio (Wilco, My Morning Jacket) and out October 10.
Venice Beach-based Terraplane Sun is comprised of Ben Rothbard (vocals, guitar, harmonica, tambourine), Johnny Zambetti (guitar, mandolin), Chris “Cecil” Campanaro (bass), Gabe Feenberg (keys, lap steel guitar, trombone) and Lyle Riddle (drums). Formed in 2009, Ben and Cecil recorded the gritty, self-titled debut album, then went on hiatus until Ben met Johnny as extras on the set of a commercial, of all places, compared notes and rejoined Cecil while recruiting Gabe and Lyle. The result is a raw, vintage sound spanning rock to blues to country, with plenty of soul and biting musicianship throughout.
