The 2nd Law, the sixth album from UK-based trio Muse, hits stores today via Warner Bros. Records. The album’s single “Madness” is currently the Number One song at Alternative Radio, the band’s third song to reach the top position on the chart. This Saturday, October 6th 2012, the band will return to Saturday Night Live to perform two songs from The 2nd Law.
At the closing ceremonies in London for the 2012 Olympics, Muse performed their song ‘Survival.’ Earlier this year the song was picked as the official song for this year’s Olympic Games (read about it here). As it turns out, their energized and highly anticipated performance was cut from the NBC broadcast that aired in the U.S., and music fans are pissed. Not only that, they also cut performances by Ray Davies, Kate Bush and The Who.
“Survival” will be played throughout the sporting sessions in all London 2012 venues during the entire Games, when athletes enter the stadium, the lead up to the medal ceremonies and it will be made available for international broadcasters of the Olympic Ceremonies to use in their broadcasts.

Arcade Fire’s Win Butler was visibly stunned as the group accepted their trophy and then quickly rushed to perform the last song of the night.
